オープンカフェスタイルなので、天気の良い日には外でランチがお勧め。昼時は混雑するので、少し時間をズラすと良いかも。ハンバーガーはそこそこのレベル。 We enjoyed lunch out side! This has burger, salad and fish. I recommend spring season, you can see cherry blossom!

Barleycorns is a pretty good spot. You can get an inexpensive beer (especially on happy hour prices), a good burger, and enjoy the nice patio. I always get a salad because I love their house made Bleu cheese dressing - I could drink that stuff!! I prefer their buggers to their wings, but you definitely want that dressing if you're going to order wings! I've always had speedy and friendly service here. It's not my go to for anything, but I'm always pleased with my experience when I come here.

Outside area is great. The only reason to come here would be a nice day and you want a drink.

The beer prices are great during both of their happy hours. 1.75 for a pint of select domestics.

I'm baffled at how Barleycorns is packed to the gills nearly every time I drive by this place on Dixie Highway. And I'm more baffled at all the four and five star reviews. I live in the neighborhood, and due to friends and family, I have been here probably 10 times, I never come here on my own. Of the 10 times I've been here, at least half the time the service has been poor and/or terribly slow. This latest time on a Tuesday night (!) was the last straw for me, I'll never be back. Yep, it was packed! LOL too funny. Our waiter was so out of it and befuddled, we waited nearly fifteen minutes for our order to be taken, drinks were missed, and the food took nearly 35 minutes to arrive before we just said 'screw it' and left. We told the manager of our experience as we left, and he did offer to box our food up, but we said no thanks...we'd had enough. It's a shame because the food is decent for bar food, and I love their big patio on the side of the building. In fact, I don't think I've had a bad service experience out there, just inside. They staff the outside properly, I think...not so much the inside. The food is not good enough to make up for the poor service though, plus they are on the pricey side. As an added bonus to the average food and crappy service, they are now charging 99 cents for the privilege of having french fries with your burger or meal. All menu items that used to include french fries with your order, now include "kitchen chips" (aka, bullshit) instead of fries. One day your meal comes with fries, the next day, they're 99 cents extra. What a place. These guys really milk the "neighborhood spot" feel, and I really feel their location and great patio is the main draw here. I am betting they get the "I won't go to TGIF or Applebees" crowd, which both are within a mile of this place. I can't explain how they stay in business any other way.

I ordered the fish & chips with a side of mac n cheese. what I got was 3 fish nuggets, a spartan amount of fries and mac that seemingly came right out of the Kraft box. I think my 2 star rating is generous.

My husband and I have been here several time and have been more than underwhelmed. Food of mediocre, service is ok, and the atmosphere is pushing retirement(totally ok but not for us). We went today and I asked for a mixed drink menu and the bartender promptly said "I can make just about anything you want!".... we ordered a simple LIT. Took a few drinks, something wasn't right..another drink .omg there is bourbon in there. It was bad. Sorry hometown restaurant, but we've tried and been burned too many times.

Not my favorite place. Went twice and both times the service was slow. The chicken salad was alright. Too much mayo for me. The chipotle wrap was awful! No chipotle taste at all; honestly thought I was given a chicken Caesar wrap. They have a nice patio for when it's nice outside.

Don't go to this bar if you are a local sports fan. Went there to see the Bengals game and they seated us upstairs as I told them we were there to watch the Bengals game. It took them 1 minute into the 1:00 game to finally switch the TV over to the Bengals. Then, into the 4th quarter we became surrounded by Buffalo Bills fans. Lady behind me arguing with waiter the we have HER table. Then, with 5 minutes to go in the game, they turn it over to the Buffalo game. This is after they seated me there to watch the Bengals! Felt like I was in a hostile opponents bar. Found out later that this bar has been supporting Buffalo fans for years. Bottom line is that a neighborhood sports bar should support local sports. There are too many other nice sports bars in town to go to rather than support this establishment. Will not be back.

One of my family's favorite places to go. Love being able to sit outside and eat. Yes it is crowded and you can wait to be seated outside but that's what makes the place really good! Good food (wings), live music on weekend nights. Just an overall good place to hang out , eat and drink with friends and family! It's a must see.

Neighborhood spot in Kentucky. Nice big patio with tables (and umbrellas) - great for a nice afternoon. They have this "ride the rail" thing where you get a card and get it punched for each beer you try - not a huge selection of beers so I think it's kind of silly... but whatever. Things like that make sense at The Yardhouse and The Pub. The food is your average sports bar food - nothing out of the ordinary - nothing absolutely delicious. Just a good neighborhood spot - nothing to go out of your way for. Service is nice, friendly, patient, and helpful - definitely a good staff.

First timer here. Had the reuben and it was phenomenal! Great location and equally exceptional staff. The food was fresh and at a great price. Give it a try; you will not be disapointed!!!!

My boyfriend and I come here every Sunday during football season as part of the Bills Backers club. For years now, the management and staff has marvelously accommodated our group. They give us the upstairs section and two dedicated servers (for everyone else's sake as much as for ours, haha) and they really do know our names, our regular orders, etc. Barleycorn's is conveniently located on Dixie Hwy and has a great atmosphere -- family-friendly, good food, lots of TVs, not *too* loud, great service. I'm basically addicted to their nachos con queso, but they also have delicious wings, baked potatoes, mini sandwiches/combos, and more. I'm pretty fond of the hot bavarian pretzel sandwich, too. If you're looking for a nice quiet dinner with your grandparents, go to Ruby Tuesdays. If you're looking for a warm fun place to grab a bite with friends (and maybe watch some sports), check out Barleycorn's. Note: it appears that smoking is no longer permitted inside, which makes me and my lungs very happy!

This place outta be great! Impeccable bar service, decent wait staff...but ohhh the kitchen. Burgers are the forte, and if size is your concern you will be impressed, but not by the quality of the beef or flavor of the beast. The deserts I have attempted, both the brownie and the bread pudding bear little resemblance to the real thing. Both were dry and flavorless. All is not lost however, one thing is on par with 4 star eatery's...the prices.

Sigh! I wanted to like this place....I really really wanted to like it.... BUT Not to be. Seated on the patio: a beautiful lay-out, and 9 servers on duty standing around. Uhm... Did I mention standing around? We sat and waited and watched the servers watching us... 5 girls were not busy, our server was taking an order, so we sat with no drink, no menu, nada, while the girls with no tables stared at us, staring at them.... The menu is a scootch high (not bad) the food is okay (not bad) the service is painfully slow (bad) With so many places, will not be in a rush to " get down there" again...

Terrific folks in our community. Great wings and best patio around lakeside park.

I eat here all the time, and often pull up a stool and bend an elbow. But the food is so-so. The burger I had tonight had no seasoning. Yeah it was "smothered" but the patty had no salt or pepper put on before it hit the grill. I like this place because I can walk there and the food is sometimes okay, but Joe needs to figure out that he needs to raise the food quality a bit to justify the prices.

It's hard to imagine that a chain of restaurants would vary so much from location to location. And Barleycorn's seems to have down what it needs to be successful in the Cincinnati area. You'll find the full gambit of sports tv, beer and burgers. But what's so baffling is how amazing the Dixie Highway location is, with full atmosphere of a hometown family dinner joint, compared to the cold and calculated energy of the Florence location. I say this because I went to both, and the difference is night-and-day. So much so, that I'll go a step further to tell you it's not worth going to Barleycorn's, unless you're traveling to the Dixie Highway location. The "real" Barleycorn's. So it makes me wonder, that if I say how much I loved the "real" location, my words will vary if you visit a different location, because I can't say enough good things about the food, and service and ample parking. And speaking only as a casual dinner patron, I was treated to a great menu. It had a solid build of options, customization and variety. I was torn between a few things - a problem I love having at a restaurant. And despite the numerous groups next to us upstairs, we were treated to great service. Had I been 21 at the time, I'm sure I would've also taken a tour through their beer and alcohol selection too, 'cause Barleycorn's knows what state they're from. Yup, I'm talkin' bourbon. So go to this location, and feast on all that is great. Go to another location, and, well, it's anyone's guess what you'll get.

Yelp's 2 star text basically sums up my thoughts of this place perfectly: "Meh. I've experienced better." I would say if you're looking for a pint with your buddies, Barleycorns will do okay in a pinch. But if you're looking to get some grub, you'd best avoid it. I found most of the food severely lacking in flavor, and really not excelling in any sort. I love Mike D.'s Burgerquest Breakdowns (which btw, would make a good band name), but I was less pleased by the burger than he was. Really the only thing at Barleycorns I can tolerate are the chicken tenders. Even their fries are very sub par. Yes this is all "bar food", but Barleycorns has the rep and atmosphere of being more of a casual diner restaurant. And even most bars I've been to can at least make some fries correctly. Bar or restaurant, it definitely is a gathering place to watch various sporting events, though that seems pretty standard for most bars in NKY. If there is a game happening that night, expect the place to be packed. As Teresa pointed out, the smoke can be a bit stifling at times, so the patio should be your destination weather permitting. And honestly, their patio is pretty cool. One of the few redeeming features of Barleycorns. In short, if you want a drink and to watch the game, Barleycorns will do well enough. But if you want to go out for dinner, this should be near the bottom of your list.

Not that I have a problem with this establishment, but I have definitely experienced better. It's great for the sports fan, the family for a dinner outing, and the local not wanting to travel further to a cooler bar. The food is decent and the weekly deals are pretty special. I had the fruit and chicken salad. Pretty good--nothing to write home about. The beer selection was acceptable (Magic Hat #9!).

Tough to rate as like a previous reviewer mentioned the locations are quite different. The Dixie hwy. location for me is by far the best. I could give it 3 or 4 stars. Great atmosphere, lots of character, good food and a decent sports bar. The Florence location is totally different. You might as well eat at Frisch's. Why they didn't use the same type successful formula as the Dixie location is really perplexing. If you go, try the Grouper sandwich it's fantastic. I use to love their wings but since they started charging over a dollar a wing I no longer order them. I've yet to find a place that charges this much for a chicken wing.

it's close to work so we went - I had a Reuben and it was pretty good - there were some order hiccups for other people but all in all not bad. Standard "bar" food. Wednesdays they have free chicken sandwiches - we'll have to try that soon.

So you're in Northern KY and looking for the place to be? Apparently this is it. Whether you dine inside or out on their patio, you will find a bubbly, bustling atmosphere. My husband is from KY and every time we go back to visit his family, we undoubtedly have a meal from Barleycorn's. Sometimes we eat there and sometimes we just order carry out. The wings are a big favorite with my husband and his family. I have gotten hooked on the WILDCAT sandwich - buffalo chicken sandwich with bleu cheese and mushrooms. If you want any of the ingredients off to the side, they will do it for you. I usually get the bleu cheese to the side so that I can put on just the right amount.

I just stopped by the recently renovated Barleycorn's Five Mile House, and I can't say that I noticed anything different until I went to use the restrooms (which are sooo much better now, btw). Barleycorn's has consistently tasty pub grub and the bar stays open until 2:30 am every night except Sundays. The most recent dish I ordered was the Chicken Ranch panini served with onion (an excellent recommendation by our waitress). The chicken breast on the sandwich was tender and juicy and the panini bread was soft and tasty, but not the crisp, textured bread I was expecting. The onion straws were addictive. I dipped them in ranch dressing, but they really didn't need any type of sauce as they were deliciously seasoned. I highly recommend. The kitchen stays open late; I've ordered food until midnight here before. With loads of TVs, Barleycorns is great place to watch a game or catch up with friends. And don't forget their enormous outdoor patio!

One of the best burgers in the area! I have sampled all of their burgers and it is hard to pick a favorite. The wings are particularly good too. Would rate this establishment higher, but simply can't because of the cigarette smoke. Even when I requested the 'non-smoking' section, it is merely a section near the bar with no ashtrays on the tables. The air is still very smokey. I tried upstairs, but the cigarette smoke just wafted up from below. The last two times I have had this establishment's food, I have either taken it home or requested to eat on the patio. Will not return during months in which it is too cold to eat on the patio due to the cigarette smoke indoors.

I've been to Barleycorn's many many times over the years, and I've been to many locations. The food has always been fine, nothing to write home about, but not bad either. It's an okay place to go for a quick decent meal. The last time I ate there, I ordered a sandwich and I chose fruit as the side. When my plate was delivered, I mistakenly received fries. I politely mentioned it to my server and she rolled her eyes and went and got an empty side plate and told me that I needed to scrape the fries off my plate onto the side plate so she could return them to the kitchen. I was in shock. Really? You want me to take the fries off my plate so that you can return them to the kitchen? She said that was their policy so that people didn't try to steal sides. Ok, so now I am trying to get free food? Really? The correct response would have been for her to apologize for the mistake and bring out fruit and ask if everything else is okay. So I asked for the manager. She went and spoke to him and he came to the table and said that yes, in fact it was their policy to remove the fries, but offered that maybe the server could have taken the whole plate back to the kitchen. I explained that in all the years that I have been dining out and all the times that I have been to Barleycorn's, I have never witnessed such a big deal made over THEIR mistake and .25 worth of sucky fries. I said that I would like the GM's name and the manager went off to collect a card. When he returned, he said that it was also their policy to not give the GM's card out without getting the customers name that wanted it. Really? That's complete crap. I told him to keep the card, because I've been there enough times to know the GM is Joe and I would just call him the next day. The manager walked off laughing, being completely rude and obviously not taking it seriously and then went up to the bar and appeared to be telling someone else the story and laughing. The next day I called and spoke to Joe. He said that neither taking the fries or getting customers names was their policy. He apologized and said he would address it with his staff. For the inconvenience, he said he would send out gift certificates. Overall I felt like he also realized how stupid his manager and server were and was handling it the right way with the customer. That was about 2 months ago. Still waiting for that gift certificate, I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Maybe the problem is at the top... I won't be back, and I will tell the story of the Barleycorn jackasses to everyone I know. Thanks Yelp for helping spread the word!

A bar, with bar food... I have to admit, I have been a Barleycorn's patron for quite some time now, but it is still just a, well, bar - with simply - bar food. Tower Saratoga chips, burgers, specialty salads and of course wings. Although the food and the beer is just what you would expect from this stereotype pub, the atmosphere at this location on Dixie is quite nice. In the summer time and well into the fall, they have an outdoor patio with a fire pit and the service is almost always timely and kind. Not one of the stellar bars with a unique menu and fantastic pours, but still good and reasonably priced. My late night dine of choice is usually the Blue Wedge with their signature (awesomlely tastey, awesomely bad for you) blue cheese dressing or their queso dip with chips. Serving late in the evening, this is always a nice rendezvous after a night of fun and alternate to White Castle.

Burgerquest review! Barleycorn's description: That's homemade BBQ sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese & onion straws with lettuce and tomato. Cooking Temp: Medium Additions/Subtractions: added Bleu Cheese sauce on my own Burger: 3 Above average in size (about 6oz), freshness and texture, however not much flavor when eaten by itself. There wasn't even much of a grilled taste to it, even though it looked to have grill marks on the meat. Cooked to medium, as ordered. Bun: 2 Smallish toasted Kaiser Roll. Toasted and tasted fine, but fell apart under the weight of the burger, ran out of bun on the bottom before I ran out of burger. Part of this was due to the lettuce and tomato being under the beef on the bottom half of the bun. Toppings: 5 Cheddar Cheese, finely shredded lettuce, fresh tomato, perfectly chewy-crispy thick cut bacon, crispy freshly fried onion straws and house-made BBQ sauce and Bleu Cheese Sauce. Killer. Accoutrements: 3 Standard bar & grill beers on tap (we had 20oz Killian's drafts, were told they were $3.50, but they charged us $4, not cool) Thin cut fries were crispy and had good flavor but were nothing special. You get to choose your side from about six things (all house made) which is cool if you're not feeling fries. They also have a full menu of standard stuff, they have Nacho Mountain, and I remember the chicken wings being good. Atmosphere: 3.5 Barleycorn's 5 Mile House is probably the best and nicest Barleycorn's locations. It's got a large outdoor seating area that is protected by some trees and a small "Road House" type inside with a main bar area, a raised seating area and then more seats up in a unique loft dining area. The place has been open for a long time and it feels homey and worn in. Nothing cookie-cutter about it. Would be a decent place to watch some sports with your favorite upper-middle class white people. N.B. This isn't the warehouse frat hangout that is the Cold Spring Location. Overall: 3.4 The burger was a solid contender until the end when i ran out of bun and tasted the meat au naturale. Fortunately I had already eaten the previous 90% of it and it was freakin' delicious as a unit. Couple that with the house-made-ness of nearly everything on the menu and Barleycorn's 5 Mile House is a solid stop for anyone seeking burger deliciousness.

So I was with my girlfriend at Barleycorns having a good time before the suit and tie had to come on for incoming clients. Anyway I quit smoking a long while ago and I started using electronic cig's. The manager came over and told me that it was illegal to use my electronic cig in the building and I had to put it out. I informed him that it was not illegal but if goes against Barleycorn's policy I would. He proceded to tell me that Kenton County insisted that it was illegal. Im no lawyer but I can look up a county ordinances...It is my opinion that he did not want to tell me that it was a rule of Barleycorn's for fear of losing business. This is my opinion not a fact. Here is a link to the Kenton County Official Ordinances in which 132.07 (D) Enforcement states that if anyone would like to make a complaint about the policy to contact the Northern Kentucky Health Department. amlegal.com/nxt/gateway.… (Do a quick search for 'smoking' in the above link) The health department says: Are electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) covered in the ordinance? No, the Kenton County Attorney has determined that e-cigarettes do not fall under the provisions of the Kenton County smoke-free ordinance. This is from their frequently asked questions in the following link. Thus stating that you can use e-cigs are not covered in this law. nkyhealth.org/mx/hm.asp?… electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) covered in the ordinance The manager could not show me anything that states anything different so I will not be visiting any of their establishments again.

I'd give this place two stars except for one very redeeming feature. The TVs weren't cranked. From what I can tell, the place was clean but each menu item was $2 more than it should have been. I only had the taco salad and although it claims to be award winning I was unimpressed with the flavor and an absolute dearth of beef. I found a bit at the bottom covered in ranch. This seems like a place where business owners and middle managers come to grab a bit and to network - at least at lunch. That's what I was doing, anyway. To that end I appreciated that the TVs weren't cranked at full volume like some sports places. It allowed for conversation which was nice.

Good food! They are really busy on the weekends though. You have to go early or pretty late to avoid a wait. Luckily they have a few good beers on draft to keep you busy.

My husband and I went here with a few friends of ours for dinner. Our friends seemed to really like the place, they recommended it, I however wasn't impressed and neither was my husband. The food was just okay, and the prices were more than the food was worth. I don't know if it's just because of the food that we ordered, but I don't think that was it because I tasted both my meal, my husbands and an appetizer and I wasn't impressed with anything. I wouldn't choose to go here again, and if someone else recommended it, I'd recommend somewhere else to them.
